ORLANDO, Fla. - Wisconsin Lutheran dropped the
second games of its doubleheader 4-1 to Bethany Lutheran on Monday
on the first day of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational at
Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.
The Vikings began the game by scoring a run in the top of the
first inning for a quick 1-0 lead. WLC platted a run of its own in
the bottom of the second when sophomore Ethan Geis (Fond du Lac,
Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) drove in sophomore Brad Marshall (Cudahy,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) on an RBI groundout.
The Warriors were held hitless for the remaining five innings as
Bethany Lutheran scored three more runs the rest of the way.
Sophomore Austin Backhaus (Campbellsport, Wis./Campbellsport)
went the distance for WLC, surrendering five hits while striking
out three. Marshall, Ryan Pollesch (Markesan, Wis./Markesan) and
Eric Burrow (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) each had hits for
the Warriors.
Wisconsin Lutheran (0-2) faces Newbury College in a doubleheader
on Tuesday beginning at 4 p.m.
