VERONA, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
Warriors baseball team was blanked by Edgewood College 12-0 in game
two of a Northern Athletics Conference doubleheader on a windy
Wednesday afternoon at Stampfl Field.
Edgewood scored two early runs in the bottom of the first inning
which proved to be enough for the Eagles the rest of the way.
Wisconsin Lutheran held the Eagles scoreless for the next two
frames before surrendering a six spot in the bottom of the
fourth.
The hosts added a pair of runs in both the fifth and sixth
inning and were able to hold WLC scoreless en route to the 12-0
shutout. The Warriors left a total of nine runners on base in the
contest, including the bases loaded in the top of the seventh.
Sophomore Ethan Geis (Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) and
senior Eric Burrow (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) each
recorded two hits apiece to lead the Warriors offensely. Senior
Josh Lemke (Brillion, Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran) took the loss on the
hill for WLC, allowing eight runs on seven hits while fanning
two.
Cory McCullick went 2-for-3 with five RBIs and two runs scored
to pave the way for Edgewood (11-4, 2-0 NAC).
Wisconsin Lutheran (3-12, 0-4 NAC) travels to Marian University
in Fond du Lac, Wis., on Saturday for a NAC doubleheader with the
Sabres beginning at noon.
