MILWAUKEE - Andrew Loescher (Jackson,
Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) broke his own school record in the
shot put and achieved three other personal bests in leading the
Wisconsin Lutheran College men's track & field team to a
fourth-place finish out of six teams on Saturday at Raabe
Stadium.
Loescher placed first of 17 in the javelin throw with a toss of
49.10 meters. He finished third of 21 in the shot put with a
school-record and personal-best throw of 13.71 meters. He also
placed sixth in both the hammer (40.15m) and discus throws
(37.70m), both were also personal bests. Senior co-captain Rick
LaFleur (Random Lake, Wis./Random Lake) rounded out the field
events by placing third in the hammer throw with a toss of 44.30
meters.
Junior Dominique Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Vincent) won the
100-meter dash in a time of 11.34 seconds, and was a member of the
winning 4x4 relay team. He also placed second in the long jump with
a leap of 6.90 meters. Junior Ryan Timm (New Ulm, Minn./Minnesota
Valley Lutheran) added second-place finish in the 200-meter dash
with a time of 22.52.
Senior co-captain Zach Shiels (Johnson Creek, Wis./Lakeside
Lutheran) placed second in the mile run with a school-record time
of 4:32.04.
WLC finished fourth with 107 total team points. Fellow Northern
Athletics Conference member Milwaukee School of Engineering took
first among the six competing teams with 214 points.
Wisconsin Lutheran returns to action next Saturday when it
competes in the Private College Championships at Carroll University
in Waukesha, Wis. Events are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
