LOVES PARK, Ill. - Rockford College scored 12
of its 13 runs over the final three innings to break open a one-run
game and shutout Wisconsin Lutheran 13-0 on Monday in the second
game of a Northern Athletics Conference doubleheader at Road Ranger
Stadium.
WLC junior John Lynch (Rosendale, Wis./Laconia) opened the game
by tossing three scoreless innings before Rockford scored its first
run of the game in the fourth inning via a solo home run. After a
scoreless fifth frame from both teams, the Regents capitalized on
three errors to plate four runs on three hits in the sixth.
Rockford scored a single run in the seventh before adding seven
more runs on six hits in the eighth. The game was called after the
eighth due to run rule.
Sophomore Josh Ferrell (Cocoa, Fla./Temple Christian) and junior
Kyle Edlhuber (Mukwonago, Wis./Luther Preparatory) were credited
with the Warriors' two hits on the evening. Only seven of
Rockford's 13 runs were earned in the game as WLC committed five
errors.
Chris Brockman led the Regents (19-9, 11-3 NAC) at the plate by
going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Adam Ketzner
allowed only two hits and struck out 14 in eight innings of work to
earn the win.
Wisconsin Lutheran (8-24, 5-13 NAC) hosts Lawrence University, a
member of the Midwest Conference, in a non-conference doubleheader
on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Neumann Family Field.
