MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
Warriors scored seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings combined
to pick up an 8-4 win over Lawrence University Tuesday at Neumann
Family Field.
The Warriors scored first with an RBI single by senior Jared
Huntemann (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) in the bottom of the first
inning that scored Cody Schmidt (Union City, Okla./Union City).
Down 1-0 in the top of the third inning, the Vikings scored three
runs to go up 3-1.
After two innings of no offensive production, WLC got on track
in the fifth inning plating four runs. Schmidt, Kyle Edlhuber
(Mukwonago, Wis./Luther Preparatory) and Justin Barkhurst (Crete,
Ill./Illinois Lutheran) all had RBIs for the Warriors in the frame.
Lawrence was able to score one run on a sacrifice fly to bring the
score to 5-4, with the Warriors in front.
Wisconsin Lutheran stretched the lead to 8-4 in the sixth inning
by scoring three runs. Schmidt, Edlhuber and Huntemann each brought
across a run in the inning.
Senior Josh Lemke (Brillion, Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran) went the
distance for the Warriors, getting the complete-game victory. He
allowed two earned runs and struck out four.
Wisconsin Lutheran (9-24) will host Lawrence (12-13) for the
second half of the doubleheader at Neumann Family Field, first
pitch scheduled at 4:30 p.m.
