Warriors blanked by Pioneers in nightcap

MILWAUKEE - WLC fell to UW-Platteville 18-0 on Wednesday in the second game of a non-conference baseball doubleheader at Neumann Family Field.

Wisconsin Lutheran and Platteville played scoreless ball for the first two innings before the Pioneers took a 4-0 lead in the third. After a scoreless fourth, UWP plated at least three runs in each of the final three innings, including seven runs in the sixth.

Junior Shawn Glasel (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) and sophomore Austin Backhaus (Campbellsport, Wis./Campbellsport) accounted for each of the Warriors' two hits in the game.

James Gallagher and Matt Paulus each went 3-for-5 to pace the Pioneers (9-9). Platteville finished with 16 hits in the game.

Wisconsin Lutheran (3-18) returns to Northern Athletics Conference action on Saturday when it hosts Maranatha Baptist Bible College in a noon doubleheader at Neumann Family Field.
