WHITEWATER, Wis. - Wisconsin Lutheran College
junior Dominique Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Vincent) placed second in
both the long jump and triple jump on Thursday at the UW-Whitewater
Rex Foster Warhawk Open.
Johnson, who placed second of seven competitors with a
school-record mark of 14.44 meters in the triple jump, surpassed
the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying standard of 14.05
meters. Marcus Smith of UW-Whitewater won the event with a jump of
14.59 meters. The automatic qualifying mark in the triple jump is
14.65 meters.
Johnson also placed second out of 19 competitors in the long
jump with a leap of 6.71 meters. Cory Lockridge of Whitewater won
the event with a mark of 6.73 meters. The provisional qualifying
standard in the long jump is 6.96 meters.
The host Warhawks won the six-team title with 412 points.
Johnson, who was the only competitor from WLC, accumulated 16
points for sixth place.
Johnson and the Warriors will be back on the track on Saturday,
April 18 when they host the Warrior Relays. Events are scheduled to
get underway at 11:30 a.m. at Raabe Stadium.
