Vikings defeat Wisconsin Lutheran, 6-1

MILWAUKEE - Maggie LaPlante and Joelle Pipal each tallied two goals and an assist to lead Bethany Lutheran College past Wisconsin Lutheran College 6-1 on Friday night in the second game of the women's Warrior Cup at Warrior Field.

The visiting Vikings found the back of the net just over two minutes into the contest and scored two more goals before the half ended to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Bethany Lutheran totaled 16 first-half shots, opposed to two for Wisconsin Lutheran.

BLC netted its first of three goals in the second half at the 55:12 mark. After the visitors scored their final goal with just over 71 minutes gone by, junior Meta Kolander (Brookfield, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) found the back of the net with 7:15 remaining in the game to put the Warriors on the board.

Bethany Lutheran (1-0), which attempted 24 shots in the contest, was paced by LaPlante's eight shots. Kolander finished with three of WLC's six shot attempts.

Wisconsin Lutheran (1-0) faces Beloit College, a 2-1 winner over UW-Platteville in the first game of the Warrior Cup, at 5 p.m. Saturday at Warrior Field.
