WLC falls at Benedictine in season's final road contest

LISLE, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran women's soccer team fell 3-0 to Northern Athletics Conference opponent Benedictine University Tuesday evening in its final road contest of the 2010 season at the BU Sports Complex.

The Eagles scored once in the first half despite outshooting the Warriors 15-8. Nikki Jhanji scored the first goal unassisted at 26:27 to give the hosts a 1-0 lead at the break. Ale Farias and Melissa Swanson scored in the second half to help BU preserve the victory. The Warriors were outshot in the final frame, 8-2.

Senior Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska Lutheran) played the entire game in the net for the Warriors, saving eight shots all in the first half. WLC was lead by freshman Maggie Smith (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn) with two shots and sophomore Aubrey Breuckman (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) with one shot on goal.

Michele Del Sarto earned the shutout for BU (8-8-1, 5-4-1 NAC), making a pair of saves. Megan Johnson led the offensive attack with seven shots, four on goal. Swanson also had six shots, two of which were on goal.

The Warriors (4-13-1, 1-9-1 NAC) will wrap up their 2010 campaign Saturday at 1 p.m. by hosting Concordia University Wisconsin (8-8-1, 5-4-1 NAC) at Warrior Field. The game also marks Senior Day and Homecoming for Wisconsin Lutheran.
