MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's soccer team held an early 1-0 lead, but it unfortunately
wasn't enough as Concordia University Wisconsin scored three
unanswered goals in the second half to defeat the Warriors 3-1
Saturday afternoon in the final game of the 2010 season at Warrior
Field.
The Warriors were first to get on the board in the 14th minute
of the game when freshman Nikki DiSalvo (Waterford, Wis./Waterford)
cleaned up a loose ball in the box from freshman Mel Lemke
(Brookfield, Wis./Central). The Warriors maintained their 1-0 lead
at halftime. CUW out-shot WLC 18-7 in the opening frame.
Entering the second half, the Warriors held off the Falcons
until 23 minutes into the second half (67:48) when Becky Ott scored
her first of two goals to tie the game at 1-1. Ten minutes later
(77:23), Emily Waldorf of CUW scored an unassisted goal to put the
visitors in front 2-1 for the game winner. Ott scored the final
insurance tally at 85:50.
Freshman Cari Westover (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) had three shots
on goal for the Warriors. Sophomore Allison Mielke (Green Bay,
Wis./N.E.W Lutheran) and freshman Maggie Smith (Elkhorn,
Wis./Elkhorn) had two shots on goal each for WLC.
WLC honored senior goalkeeper Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska
Lutheran), who made a total of 12 saves, during Saturday's game.
She finished with over 800 for her career.
Ott totaled a game-high 11 shots for Concordia Wisconsin (9-8-1,
6-4-1 NAC), which finished with 40 for the game. Mary Ryan
collected nine saves in the net.
Wisconsin Lutheran finishes its 2010 season with an overall
record of 4-14-1 and 1-10-1 in the NAC.
