VERO BEACH, Fla. - Wisconsin Lutheran College
held the Coe College Kohawks to just three runs, but it was enough
to defeat the Warriors 3-0 Thursday in the first game of a
doubleheader at the RussMatt Dodgertown Invitational.
Coe strung together three hits and scored one run in the top of
the first inning for an early lead. The score remained the same
until the bottom of the fifth when the Kohawks rallied to score two
runs after the inning had begun with the first two batters being
retired. The Warriors were limited to just two hits off of Kohawk
starting pitcher Cody Raisch.
Senior Kyle Edlhuber (Mukwonago, Wis./Luther Preparatory) and
junior Brad Marshall (Cudahy, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) were
responsible for WLC's two hits on the afternoon. Senior Jake
Thorsteins (Round Lake Beach, Ill./Shoreland Lutheran) had a solid
showing on the mound (0-1), tossing 6.0 innings and giving up three
earned runs on nine hits.
Ryan Schisler and Ryan Velvick both went 2-for-3 with a run
scored for Coe (5-4). Raisch struck out 11 batters and gave up just
two hits while walking none in 7.0 innings to pick up the
victory.
Wisconsin Lutheran (0-5) will face Coe in the second game of a
doubleheader on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
