VERO BEACH, Fla. - Wisconsin Lutheran College rallied from a three-run deficit to tie the game, but the Coe College Kohawks scored three late runs to edge the Warriors 6-4 in the second game of a doubleheader on Thursday at the RussMatt Dodgertown Invitational.

The Kohawks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after plating a pair of runs on two hits and an error in the first inning. The Warriors cut their deficit in half in the bottom of the inning when junior Justin Barkhurst (Crete, Ill./Illinois Lutheran) singled home Ryan Pollesch (Markesan, Wis./Markesan).

After Coe added another run in the second, Wisconsin Lutheran tied the score at 3-3 in the fourth on RBIs from junior Matt Lang (East Troy, Wis./East Troy) and senior Shawn Glasel (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran).

Following a scoreless fifth frame, Coe used four hits to score three runs and went back in front of WLC, 6-4, in the sixth. The Warriors rallied in the seventh, scoring a run on two hits, including another Barkhurst RBI, but their comeback fell just short.

Barkhurst went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and one run scored to lead the Warriors at the plate, while Glasel was 2-for-3 with an RBI. WLC pounded out 10 hits and was solid defensively, committing one error in the game.

Junior Austin Backhaus (Campellsport, Wis./Campbellsport) received a no-decision after pitching 5.0 innings and allowing just one earned run on eight hits. Pollesch was dealt the loss (0-1) after giving up three runs on four hits. Facing 35 batters in the game, three WLC pitchers combined to walk just one Kohawk hitter.

Pat Richmond led the Kohawks (6-4) by going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Alec Lewis pitched a complete game, surrenduring 10 hits and four earned runs. He struck out four and didn't walk a batter.

Wisconsin Lutheran (0-6) is scheduled to battle Gettysburg College on Friday in a doubleheader slated to start at 9 a.m. ET.
