MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors baseball team dropped the second game of its Northern Athletics Conference doubleheader against Benedictine University 11-1 in a run-rule shortened seven innings on Sunday afternoon at Neumann Family Field.

Benedictine plated a single run in its half of the first when Jimmy Janchenko was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. BU continued to add to its tally in the second inning when it scored seven runs on five hits for an 8-0 lead over WLC.

Following a scoreless third and fourth inning, the Eagles plated another run in the fifth before the Warriors got on the scoreboard in their half of the inning on a RBI groundout from junior Justin Barkhurst (Crete, Ill./Illinois Lutheran) that plated Ryan Pollesch (Markesan, Wis./Markesan). Pollesch reached base on a single earlier in the frame.

The Eagles, who left 15 runners on base, scored their final two runs in the seventh and the game was called after seven complete due to run rule after WLC was held in the last half inning.

Five different Warriors tallied a hit in the game. Barkhurst was credited with the team's lone RBI and Pollesch scored a run. Freshman Sam Braaten (Appleton, Wis./East) threw 4.0 innings and was handed the loss (1-3) after he gave up six earned runs on nine hits. WLC combined to walk 13 Benedictine batters.

Uli Ortiz and Kevin Hendricks each went 3-for-4 with two runs scored for the Eagles (9-11, 4-2 NAC). Dan Zust also went 3-for-3 with two runs batted in. Phil Palmisano pitched 6.0 innings, allowing one run on five hits for his second win of the season.

Wisconsin Lutheran (4-15, 3-5 NAC) returns to non-conference action on Tuesday, April 13 with a 2 p.m. doubleheader against North Central University in Minneapolis, Minn.
