RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College baseball team dropped game one of its Northern Athletics Conference doubleheader to Concordia University Chicago 17-0 Saturday afternoon at Cougar Field.

The Cougars gave themselves a five-run cushion in the first inning, using two Wisconsin Lutheran errors and a pair of big home runs to grab an early lead off WLC junior starter Austin Backhaus (Campbellsport, Wis./Campbellsport).

Concordia Chicago did not score in the second, but put a six spot up in the third inning and three more in both the fifth and sixth. The Cougars used 23 hits to end the game in seven innings due to run-rule.

The Warriors only mustered three hits against CUC's pitching staff, two of them coming from junior Justin Barkhurst (Crete, Ill./Illinois Lutheran) and the other from junior Brad Marshall (Cudahy, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran).

Jason Jusk earned the win (4-0) for Concordia (19-6, 6-3 NAC) as he tossed 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits. He struck out five and walked one. Dan Eichholzer had four hits, knocked in four runs and scored three times to lead the Cougars offensively. Eight from CUC had two or more hits in the game.

Wisconsin Lutheran (6-17, 3-7 NAC) will take on Concordia Chicago in the second game of its doubleheader on Saturday at 3 p.m. in River Forest, Ill.
