WHITEWATER, Wis. - Wisconsin Lutheran College
freshman Josh Stodola (Denmark, Wis./Denmark) broke the school
record in the 110-meter hurdles on Saturday to lead the Warriors at
the UW-Whitewater Jeff Miller Drake Alternative Meet.
Stodola's school-record time of 15.69 came in the prelims of the
110-meter hurdles where he placed fifth out of 13 competitors. He
finished fifth in the final round with a time of 16.05 to earn WLC
four points. Stodola also competed in the 400-meter hurdles, where
he came one spot shy of filling a scoring position, finishing ninth
with a time of 60.83.
Sophomore Chris Shoop (Phoenix, Ariz./Arizona Lutheran) finished
eighth in both the 100- and 200-meter dash to account for WLC's
final two points on the afternoon. Shoop recorded a time of 11.88
for eighth place out of 24 competitors in the prelims of the 100,
before finishing eighth in the finals with a time of 11.77. He also
finished eighth out of 20 in the 200-meter dash with a time of
23.45.
Sophomore Dan Tilly (West Bend, Wis./West) also had a solid
all-around day for the Warriors. Tilly placed 11th of 20 in the
200-meter dash (24.02), 13th of 28 in the javelin throw (40.46
meters) and 19th of 30 in the 400-meter dash (53.73).
Senior Tyler Schroeder (Sparta, Wis./Bangor) led three others
from WLC in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:38.92.
The Warriors scored six points to finish 12th in the final team
standings. Meet host UW-Whitewater won the overall team crown with
163 points.
Wisconsin Lutheran will return to competition next Saturday, May
1 at the Wisconsin Private College Championships hosted by Carroll
University in Waukesha, Wis.
