LC shuts out WLC in nightcap to complete sweep

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - Lakeland College scored runs in all but one inning in game two of its NAC doubleheader on Wednesday as it shutout the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors 11-0 in seven innings at Wildwood Park.

The Muskies led 3-0 through two innings of play after scoring off an RBI single and a pair of home runs. Lakeland followed with one run in the fourth and two each in the fifth and sixth innings. A three-run home run by Brad Young in the seventh gave LC an 11-0 lead and the win via run-rule.

Freshman Sam Braaten (Appleton, Wis./East) was 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Warriors. Four other players each recorded a hit. Junior starter Austin Backhaus (Campbellsport, Wis./Campbellsport) allowed eight runs on nine hits in 5.0 innings to take the loss (2-5). The Warriors stranded six runners on base, while Lakeland left just two on.

Brad Young went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored for the Muskies (17-15, 8-8 NAC). Stephen Kalina finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Garrett Vincetich-Morris pitched 7.0 innings of shutout baseball to earn the win (3-2). He scattered six hits, struck out three and walked two.

Wisconsin Lutheran (8-23, 4-12 NAC) wraps up its 2010 home schedule on Saturday by hosting Marian University in a 12 p.m. NAC doubleheader at Neumann Family Field. Saturday also marks Senior Day and the SAAC Tailgate, which takes place from 12-4 p.m.
