Martin attains personal best in 1500 meters

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Wisconsin Lutheran College junior Chris Martin (Grapevine, Texas/Christian) achieved a personal best in the 1500 meters on Friday at the Augustana Last Chance Qualifier at the Paul V. Olsen Track.

Martin, who was competing in his fifth 1500 meters of the season, attained a personal best time of 4:56.72, besting his previous top time of 4:57.02 which he set at the NAC Outdoor Championships on May 8.

Junior teammate Sean Gogerty (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) also raced in the 1500 meters, coming in right behind Martin with a time of 4:59.86. Mike Craddick, an unattached athlete, won the event with a finishing time of 3:56.82.

WLC concludes its 2010 outdoor season after breaking two school records (110- and 400-meter hurdles), both set by freshman Josh Stodola (Denmark, Wis./Denmark). The NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships are scheduled for next weekend, May 27-29, at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio.
