MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's track & field team achieved 12 season-best marks on
Saturday at the 2010 Northern Athletics Conference Outdoor Track
& Field Championships held at Raabe Stadium.
Freshman Josh Stodola (Denmark, Wis./Denmark) raced to the title
of the 110-meter hurdles with a winning time of 15.70. Stodola
narrowly beat out Vinny Greefkes of Concordia Wisconsin by .03
seconds. He later finished second out of 11 in the 400-meter
hurdles with a school-record time of 56.40, just .11 seconds behind
first-place finisher Dylan Roff of Benedictine University.
In the 1500 meters, junior Blake Miller (Milwaukee,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) finished seventh with a season-best time
of 4:30.76. Freshman Mike Huempfner (Green Bay, Wis./Preble)
(4:45.99), senior Jake Jaehnke (Sheboygan, Wis./North) (4:56.54)
and junior Chris Martin (Grapevine Texas/Christian) (4:57.02) also
ran season-best times in the event.
Miller also paced four from WLC in the 800 meters with a
season-best mark of 2:08.80. Senior teammate Tyler Schroeder
(Sparta, Wis./Bangor) finished right behind Miller for 12th place
(2:10.66). Huempfner (2:19.08) and Jaehnke (2:24.16) also raced to
season bests in the event.
Sophomore Dan Tilly (West Bend, Wis./West) accumulated the
Warriors' final point of the afternoon in the javelin throw with a
distance of 37.88 meters. Junior Sean Gogerty (Minnetonka,
Minn./Minnetonka) (18:42.40) and freshman Matt Boehlke (West St.
Paul, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) (18:53.09) each posted season-best
times in the 5000 meters, while Matt Liebenow (Washington,
Mich./Romeo) vaulted a season-best mark of 2.75 meters in the pole
vault.
The Warriors' 4 x 400-meter relay team raced to a fifth-place
finish after crossing the line in a season-best time of
3:36.44.
Wisconsin Lutheran finished eighth in the team standings with 25
points. Concordia Wisconsin scored 205 points to capture its third
team title in four seasons of the NAC.
WLC returns to action next week, May 13-14, at the Dr. Keeler
Invitational hosted by North Central College in Naperville,
Ill.
