Warriors fall to Cougars in final home game, 4-0

MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team was defeated by Northern Athletics Conference opponent Concordia University Chicago 4-0 on Tuesday night in the team's final home game of the 2011 season at Warrior Field.

Alyssa Soulis scored the first two goals of the game for the Cougars (10-6, 5-6 NAC), with the first coming just 9:20 into play to put WLC in an early 1-0 deficit. Soulis then netted her second score of the night at the 19:06 mark before assisting on CUC's final goal of the first half that came off the foot of Gorana Micevic.

Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Luebke (Kaukauna, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) made three saves in the opening half to help keep the score at 3-0. The Warriors were out-shot 10-2 in the opening 45 minutes.

The second half saw CUC out-shoot the forest green and white, 7-4. All four of the Warriors shots were on goal. Junior Allison Mielke (Green Bay, Wis./N.E.W. Lutheran) led WLC with two shots, while Soulis and Anne Rockert each attempted six shots for Concordia Chicago.

Luebke finished with eight saves, while Cassie Hasselbring tallied five saves to record the shutout for the Cougars.

The Warriors (2-14, 2-8 NAC) will wrap up their season with a two-game road swing starting Saturday with a trip to Lakeland College (4-13, 3-7 NAC). Game time at Muskie Field in Sheboygan, Wis. is set for 2 p.m.
