Women's Soccer falls at Lake Forest, 4-0

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team was defeated by the Lake Forest College Foresters 4-0 Thursday evening at Farwell Field.

The Warriors and Foresters played evenly until 32:16 into the first half when the Foresters Megan O'Connor found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

The score would stay 1-0 for the remaining 13 minutes of the opening half. Sophomore goalkeeper Mel Lemke (Brookfield, Wis./Central) stopped five shots in the first half as the Warriors were outshot 12-1.

The Foresters scored just nine minutes into the second half for a 2-0 advantage. The hosts tacked on two more goals later in the half for the 4-0 victory.

Lemke finished the game with seven saves for WLC. The Warriors attempted one shot in the contest, coming off the foot of freshman Sarah Luebke (Kaukauna, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran).

Courtney Raymond and Michele Giurovici finished with five shots each for Lake Forest (1-0), which had seven players record points.

The Warriors (0-1), who are beginning a six-game road trip, open Northern Athletics Conference play next Tuesday, September 6 at Edgewood College in Madison, Wis. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Breeze Stevens Field.
