STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College men's track & field team competed on Saturday at the
Wis.-Stevens Point Pointer/Eastbay Invitational at the Multi
Activity Center. The Warriors scored 15 points and placed 13th at
the event.
Freshman Travis Turquist (Madison, Wis./East) paced the Warriors
on the afternoon by breaking his own school record in 200-meter
dash. He crossed the line in 22.52 for third place out of 45
competitors. Dylan Crafton of Wis.-Whitewater won the event with a
time of 22.10.
In the 400-meter dash, Turnquist also broke his own school
record with a finishing time of 50.11, besting his previous time of
50.63. He placed second out of 48 competitors behind Carthage's
Aryan Avant's first-place time of 49.93. Turnquist also competed in
the 60-meter dash and finished eighth out of 47 runners with a time
of 7.18. Turnquist ran a 7.07 in the preliminaries of the event.
Alex Koenen of Wis.-La Crosse won the event in 6.90.
Sophomore Nick Biancuzzo (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Milwaukee
Lutheran) won his heat of the 800 meters and placed 22nd of 41
competitors with a personal-best time of 2:00.94. Dennis Haak of
host Wis.-Stevens Point topped the field with his time of 1:55.68.
Wis.-Oshkosh scored 116.50 points to take home the team
title.
Wisconsin Lutheran competes in the Northern Athletics Conference
Indoor Championships next Saturday at Carthage College in Kenosha,
Wis. Events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at the Tarble
Athletic and Recreation Center.
