MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's track & field team competed on Saturday at the 12-team
Warrior Invitational at Raabe Stadium. The Warriors enjoyed the
beautiful sunny afternoon by finishing fourth out of 12 teams with
50 total points.
The Warriors were led on Saturday by three first-place
finishers. Freshman Travis Turnquist (Madison, Wis./East) and
sophomores Nathan Boerneke (Fox Lake, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) and
Nick Biancuzzo (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Milwaukee Lutheran) each
placed first in the 400-meter dash, 400-meter hurdles and 800-meter
run. respectively.
Turnquist topped the 19-competitor field in the 400-meter dash
with a time of 49.09. Boerneke came through in first in the
400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.38, while Biancuzzo was also
victorious in the 16-competitor 800-meter run with a time of
1:57.79.
Also making headlines was freshman Cody Beyersdorf (Milwaukee,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran), who finished sixth in the discus throw.
His distance of 38.15 meters tops the previous school record of
38.02 meters set by Rick LaFleur in 2007.
The Carroll Pioneers topped the 12-team field with 188.50
points. Wisconsin Lutheran was fourth with 50 points.
The Warriors compete again next Saturday, April 21 at the St.
Norbert Invitational at the Donald J. Schneider Stadium in De Pere,
Wis. Events are scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m.
