DE PERE, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's track & field team scored 52 points on Saturday to finish
seventh at the 12-team St. Norbert Invitational at Donald J.
Schneider Stadium.
Freshmen Travis Turnquist (Madison, Wis./East) and Michael
Reeves (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates) combined to account
for 32 of Wisconsin Lutheran's 52 points on the afternoon. The duo
finished first (11.16) and third (11.36) in the 100-meter dash, and
second (22.31) and seventh (23.51) in the 200-meter dash,
respectively.
Turnquist was also a member of Wisconsin Lutheran's third-place
and season-best 4x400-meter relay time of 3:34.05 with Nick
Biancuzzo (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Milwaukee Lutheran), Nate Boerneke
(Fox Lake, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) and Paul Watson (Wildomar,
Calif./California Lutheran).
Four other Warriors also achieved personal bests times on the
day as Boerneke placed second in the 400-meter hurdles (59.43),
while Biancuzzo was fifth in the 1500-meter run (4:09.92).
Sophomore Isaac Hill (Racine, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) in the
5000-meter run (16:35.55) and freshman Steve Van Alstine (Howards
Grove, Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran) in the 1500-meter run (4:38.67)
also recorded personal bests.
Invite host St. Norbert scored 218 points to cruise to the
first-place team finish. Just 11 points separated Wisconsin
Lutheran from fourth place, which was occupied by MSOE with 63
points.
Wisconsin Lutheran will return to action next Saturday when it
competes in the Private College Championships hosted by Ripon.
Events begin at Ingalls Field in Ripon, Wis. at 10:30 a.m.
