ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College men's track & field team competed on Friday at the
Augustana Twilight Qualifier at the Paul V. Olsen Track.
Freshman Travis Turnquist (Madison, Wis./East) continued his
record-setting season by shattering another school and conference
mark in the 400-meter dash. Turnquist sprinted to a second-place
finish out of 15 competitors in the event with a time of 48.24.
That time currently ranks 23rd overall in NCAA Division III.
Sophomore Nick Biancuzzo (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Milwaukee
Lutheran) placed fourth out of 13 competitors in the 800-meter run
with a time of 1:57.66. Sophomore Isaac Hill (Racine,
Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) finished ninth out of 18 competitors in
the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:23.66.
Sophomore Tommy Jones (Delavan, Wis./Delavan-Darian) and
freshmen Steve Val Alstine (Howards Grove, Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran)
and Sam Wallace (Neenah, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) also competed in
events on Friday for the Warriors.
Wisconsin Lutheran will await word on whether or not Turnquist
has qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships in
the 400-meter dash. The championships will take place May 24-26 at
Burns Stadium in Claremont, Calif.
