MILWAUKEE -
The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team dropped a
non-conference contest against Lake Forest Monday night by a final
of 3-0 at Warrior Field.
The visiting Foresters struck early as Michelle Greeneway scored
off a corner kick from Anya Moran 6:23 into play to put Lake Forest
on top 1-0.
Holly Lesperance then put Lake Forest ahead 2-0 with just under 22
minutes remaining in the first half when she got a shot past
starting goalkeeper Kate Gucinski (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley
Lutheran).
That would account for all the scoring in the opening 45 minutes as
WLC trailed by two heading into the break. Lake Forest held an 8-0
shot advantage in the first half as Gucinski made four saves for
Wisconsin Lutheran.
The Foresters would add their third and final goal just over five
minutes into the second half when Ellen Rogers sent one past Sarah
Luebke (Kaukauna, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) for the 3-0
LFC advantage.
Lake Forest (2-1-0) won the shots battle 13-3 as Greeneway and
Lesperance each tallied five shots apiece to lead all players.
Maggie Smith (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn), Laura Kent (Iron Mountain,
Mich./Iron Mountain) and Mandy Schnell (Milwaukee, Wis./Martin
Luther) each recorded a shot for WLC.
The Warriors keepers combined for five saves as Gucinski tallied
four in the opening half and Luebke added one during the final 45
minutes of action. Bri Schleibinger picked up the win in the net
for Lake Forest, while Maeve Connelly finished out the final
19:54 in the net for the Foresters.
Wisconsin Lutheran (1-1-1) returns to action Wednesday when it
opens Northern Athletics Conference play by hosting Edgewood
(1-1-0). Game time between the Warriors and Eagles is set for 7
