Box Score Box score MILWAUKEE -

The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team fell in its Northern Athletics Conference-opening match Wednesday against Edgewood 4-0 at Warrior Field.

The Warriors and Eagles played to a 0-0 tie in the opening half despite Edgewood holding a 15-1 advantage in shots through the first 45 minutes of action. Warriors goalkeeper Kate Gucinski (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) was very strong in the net in the period as she made five saves to keep the contest scoreless.

The Eagles (2-1-0, 1-0-0 NAC) came out strong in the second half, however, scoring twice in the opening five minutes on unassisted goals from Emily Berns and Elaine Gerry for a 2-0 lead.

The 2-0 score would hold until the 80:10 mark when Kristina Santaga added the Eagles' third goal of the night off a pass from Erin Peterson. Gerry then scored the fourth and final goal of the evening with under a minute left in regulation off an Emily Dorsett pass for the 4-0 EC advantage.

Guciniski finished the night with eight saves for WLC, while Edgewood goalkeeper Kristi Frisch stopped the only shot she faced.

Santaga led all players with eight shots, while WLC's Nicole DiSalvo (Waterford, Wis./Waterford) and Mandy Schnell (Milwaukee, Wis./Martin Luther) each tallied a shot for Wisconsin Lutheran.

Wisconsin Lutheran (1-2-1, 0-1-0 NAC) returns to action next Tuesday when it hosts Dominican (1-2-0, 0-0-0 NAC) at Warrior Field. The matchup between the Warriors and Stars is set to begin at 7 p.m.
