WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College men's track & field team opened its season Saturday by
competing at the Karl Schlender Invitational at Kachel Fieldhouse
in Whitewater, Wis.
Sophomore Travis Turnquist (Madison, Wis./East) ran to a pair of
top-eight finishes as he helped pace the Warriors Saturday.
Turnquist finished sixth in the 32-competitor 200-meter dash as he
ran the race in a time of 23.21. The sophomore sprinter also
competed in the 60-meter dash, running that race in a time of 7.30
and finishing eighth in the 54-competitor field. Turnquist ran the
preliminaries of the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.22. Freshman Nate
Fuller (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) also competed in
both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes Saturday.
Two other Warriors competed Saturday as junior Nick Biancuzzo
(Menomonee Falls, Wis./Milwaukee Lutheran) and freshman Chase
Robles (New Berlin, Wis./West) each ran in distance events. Both
Warriors earned seventh-place finishes. Biancuzzo ran in the
one-mile run, completing that race in 4:47.65, while Robles ran a
9:49.06 in the 3,000-meter run.
The Warriors scored eight team points as Turnquist, Biancuzzo,
and Robles all recorded point-scoring finishes. Host
Wis.-Whitewater finished as the top team, scoring 204.5 points.
Wisconsin Lutheran will compete next Friday when it visits the
Kolf Fieldhouse to take part in the Wis.-Oshkosh Invite. The meet
is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
