OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's track & field team finished in sixth place Friday at the
Wis.-Oshkosh Invitational at the Kolf Fieldhouse.
Freshman Chase Robles (New Berlin, Wis./West) ran in two events
for WLC Friday as he competed in both the one-mile run and the
3,000-meter run. Robles ran the mile in 4:43.97, while running a
9:35.60 in the 3,000-meter run. Also competing in the 3,000-meter
run was sophomore Sam Wallace (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran)
and junior Tommy Jones (Delavan, Wis./Delavan-Darien). Wallace
crossed the finish line in 9:55.01 and Jones came in just behind at
10:04.54.
Sophomore Travis Turnquist (Madison, Wis./East) placed third in
the 200-meter dash as he sprined across the finish line in 22.79.
Turnquist also ran a 7.24 in the 60-meter dash preliminaries.
Freshman Jared Kosmala (Racine, Wis./Lutheran) had a strong
showing in his collegiate debut as he cleared 1.78 meters in the
high jump. Kosmala's jump earned him a fourth-place finish in the
event.
Wis.-Oshkosh, which entered the event ranked #1 in the nation,
had little trouble winning its home meet as the Titans scored 289
points. Michigan Tech totaled 102 points for a second-place
finish.
Wisconsin Lutheran will compete at the Wis.-Parkside Classic
next Saturday at the Frank J. Petretti Fieldhouse in Kenosha, Wis.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
