STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College men's track & field team competed at the Eastbay Invite
Saturday on the campus of Wis.-Stevens Point. No team scores were
available at the time of this posting.
The Warriors were led by sophomore Mike Reeves (Hoffman Estates,
Ill./Hoffman Estates), who placed seventh in the 60-meter dash with
a time of 7.12 in the finals. He also finished 24th in the
200-meter dash with a time of 24.04. In the field events, Reeves
also competed in long jump for the second time this season and tied
for fifth place with a jump of 6.27 meters.
Sophomore Travis Turnquist (Madison, Wis./East) ran a strong
400-meter dash with his fifth-place finish. Running in heat two,
Turnquist delivered a time of 50.20. Junior Nick Biancuzzo
(Menomonee Falls, Wis./Milwaukee Lutheran) finished 10th in the
800-meter run, nearly breaking the two minute barrier as he totaled
a time of 2:00.88. Freshmen Jared Kosmala (Racine, Wis./Racine
Lutheran) and Nate Fuller (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee)
both competed in field events; Jared in the high and triple, and
Nate in long and triple jump. Fellow freshman Chase Robles (New
Berlin, Wis./West) ran in the 3000-meter run finishing in 15th
place with a time of 9:15.34.
The men's team contributed to the record books as Biancuzzo,
junior Nathan Boerneke (Fox Lake, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran), junior
Tommy Jones (Delavan, Wis./Delavan-Darian), and Turnquist broke the
1600-meter relay record. The previous record was set a season ago
at 3:38.30. On Saturday, the relay team finished sixth at the
invite with a time of 3:34.61.
The Warriors will be back in action next Saturday at the NAC
Indoor Championships at the Frank J. Petretti Fieldhouse in
Kenosha, Wis. The meet starts at 11 a.m.
