KENOSHA, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's track & field team competed at the Northern Athletics
Conference Indoor Championships Saturday at the Frank J. Petretti
Fieldhouse, finishing sixth out of nine teams.
In the 55-meter dash, sophomore Mike Reeves (Hoffman Estates,
Ill./Hoffman Estates) took home second place with a school-record
time of 6.51 seconds. Reeves set his second school record of the
day in the long jump with a leap of 6.87 meters, also good for
second place.
The Warriors had a trio of top 10 finishers in the 200-meter
dash, led by sophomore Travis Turnquist's (Madison, Wis./East)
second-place time of 22.82 seconds. Reeves placed ninth with a time
of 23.94 seconds, while freshman Zach Schneider (Evansville,
Wis./Evansville) was 10th after finishing in 24.07 seconds.
Turnquist also crossed the finish line in 50.08 seconds in the
400-meter dash to take home the title in that event.
Junior Nathan Boerneke (Fox Lake, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran)
placed fifth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.44
seconds.
Junior Nick Biancuzzo (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Milwaukee Lutheran)
finished the 800-meter run in 1:58.56 for a third-place finish.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Schneider, Biancuzzo, Boerneke,
and Turnquist won fifth place by finishing in 3:33.89. That time
broke the school record, previously set at last week's Eastbay
Invite.
In the high jump, freshman Jared Kosmala (Racine, Wis./Lutheran)
placed seventh with a jump of 1.82 meters.
WLC totaled 49.5 points to earn a sixth-place finish out of nine
teams at the championships. Aurora won the title with 134
points.
Wisconsin Lutheran will next be in action March 1 at the
Carthage Gill Athletics Final Qualifier in Kenosha, Wis. Events
from the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center are scheduled to
begin at 3:30 p.m.
