Box Score Box score

FT. MYERS, Fla. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College baseball team wrapped up play at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic Saturday with an 11-2 victory over Drew (N.J.) at the former Boston Red Sox Player Development Complex.

Tyler Schoen (Marion, Wis./Marion) got things started for WLC in the first, plating Aaron Roeseler (Watertown, Wis./Luther Preparatory) and Garrick Day (Elk Mound, Wis./Elk Mound) with a single for an early 2-0 lead.

In the second, Drew cut its deficit in half with a run. In the bottom of the frame, Roeseler singled home Zack Skog (Hampshire, Ill./Hampshire) to get that run back. Brandon Mantz (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) then singled home Day to push the Warriors lead to 4-1.

WLC kept the offense going in the third, after Drew added another run in the top half of the inning. Sam Mattheis (Rosendale, Wis./Laconia) reached home on an error by the catcher and Roeseler drove in two more runners for a 7-2 advantage.

WLC was kept off the scoreboard until the eighth when it tacked on four more insurance runs. Doug Martin (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) capped off the scoring with a two-run single that brought home Mattheis and Schoen.

Jaime Paumen (Glencoe, Minn./Silver-Lake) pitched 8.0 innings to get the win, allowing one earned run on six hits. Scott Rivers (Waukesha, Wis./North) came in to pitch a scoreless ninth and shut the door on the Rangers. Roeseler led the way offensively, going 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored.

Bobby Miskura took the loss for Drew (5-4), giving up seven runs, three earned, on nine hits in 2.2 innings. Al Krause finished 2-for-4 with a run scored.

The Warriors (6-3) are scheduled to make their 2013 home debut Friday, March 22 with a non-conference doubleheader against Northland (3-5). First pitch from Neumann Family Field is slated for 1 p.m.
