ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's track & field team opened its outdoor season Friday and
Saturday at the Washington University Invitational at the Bushyhead
Track.
Sophomore Mike Reeves (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates)
had a solid day for the Warriors as he placed ninth out of 45
competitors in the long jump with a mark of 6.37 meters. Reeves
also placed 12th out of 91 athletes in the 100-meter dash,
sprinting to the finish line in 11.18 seconds.
Junior Nate Boerneke (Fox Lake, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) just
missed out on a scoring place as he finished 10th out of 28 in the
400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.62 seconds. He also came in
24th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.29 seconds.
Junior Tommy Jones (Delavan, Wis./Delavan-Darien) placed 26th
overall in the javelin with a toss of 36.08 meters. Freshman BJ
Ropel (Mayville, Wis./Mayville) competed in the 10,000-meter run,
placing 31st with a time of 34:08.76.
Southwest Baptist took home the invite crown with 86 points.
The Warriors will resume their outdoor season next Friday, April
5 at the UW-Whitewater Rex Foster Invitational. Events at the
Foster Track are scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
