MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's track & field team hosted the Warrior Invitational
Saturday, finishing ninth place out of 11 scoring teams.
The Warriors had a pair of top 10 finishers in the long jump.
Mike Reeves (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates) earned fourth
with a jump of 6.19 meters. Ryan George (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin
Lutheran) added an eighth-place finish with a 5.94 meter leap.
Reeves also competed in the 100-meter dash, finishing sixth with
a time of 11.60 seconds. He rounded out the day with a 12th-place
finish in the 200-meter dash, completing the sprint in 24.13
seconds.
The Warriors also fared well in the hurdle events, coming away
with two second-place finishes. George placed second in the
110-meter hurdles, finishing in 15.61, while Nathan Boerneke (Fox
Lake, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) completed the 400-meter hurdles in
57.28 seconds.
In the javelin throw, Tommy Jones (Delavan, Wis./Delavan-Darien)
was sixth with a toss of 37.40 meters.
The 1,500-meter run featured a trio of WLC runners. Isaac Hill
(Racine, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) paced the Warriors with a
seventh-place time of 4:22.81. Jones took home 10th with a time of
4:29.66, and Tim Christensen (Racine, Wis./Union Grove) was 14th
with a time of 4:41.71.
The 5,000-meter run saw a pair of top 10 Warriors with BJ Ropel
(Mayville, Wis./Mayville) taking fifth and Sam Wallace (Appleton,
Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) placing 10th. Ropel crossed the finish
line in 16:01.12 and Wallace in 16:56.30
WLC ended the meet with 34 total points. St. Norbert won the
meet with 137.50 points.
The Warriors' next competition will be Saturday, April 20 at the
St. Norbert Invitational in De Pere, Wis. Events from Donald J.
Schneider Stadium are set to begin at 10:30 a.m.
