WAUKESHA, Wis. - Members of the Wisconsin
Lutheran College men's and women's track & field teams competed
Saturday at the Carroll Invitational at the Dennis Punches Track
& Field Complex. The women placed fifth with 34 points, while
the men were seventh with 20 points in their respective team
standings.
Sophomore Zakkiyya Jones (Milwaukee, Wis./Oak Creek) placed
second of 10 in the long jump with a mark of 4.93 meters. She also
sprinted to a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time
of 12.97 seconds.
Sophomore teammate Jenny Ebeling (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin
Lutheran) raced to a second-place finish in the 800-meter run with
a finishing time of 2:35.70. Ebeling also finished second in the
javelin throw (31.93 meters) and fifth in the long jump (4.53
meters).
On the men's side, freshman Ryan George and junior Nathan
Boerneke (Fox Lake, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) each recorded
first-place finishes in their only events. George won the 110-meter
hurdles with a time of 15.68 seconds, while Boerneke was first in
the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.91 seconds.
St. Norbert claimed both the men's (219 points) and women's (291
points) team titles.
Wisconsin Lutheran will serve as host of the Warrior
Invitational next Saturday, April 13 at Raabe Stadium. Events get
underway at 11 a.m.
