Box Score MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College baseball team dropped its final game of the regular season before the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament, falling to UW-Milwaukee, 15-1, in non-conference action Monday at Henry Aaron Field.
The Panthers scored in bunches early as they opened up for five runs in the first inning and two more in the second for a commanding 7-0 lead. UWM added another two runs before the Warriors were able to get on the scoreboard in the sixth inning. A triple to right field from Mitch Skarban (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) brought Garrick Day (Elk Mound, Wis./Elk Mound) easily home from third to put the Warriors on the scoreboard late in the game. WLC was unable to plate any other runs after that point, despite putting runners in scoring position in the eighth. Day recorded two of WLC's six hits in the game.
Sam Mattheis (Rosendale, Wis./Laconia) suffered his second loss of the season as he tossed 1.2 innings on the mound. Joey Hodkiewicz (Burlington, Wis./Burlington), Andrew Iverson(Janesville, Wis./Craig), Scott Rivers (Waukesha, Wis./North), and Jared Pfeifer (Cambridge, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) all made relief appearances over the final 6.0 innings. Hodkiewicz fanned a pair of Panthers during his 2.0 innings of work.
Jake Tuttle pitched 6.0 innings for the Panthers (22-19) to pick up his first win of the season. He fanned seven and allowed a run on three hits. Nick Unes went 3-for-5 with five RBIs and a run scored for Milwaukee.
Sixth-seeded Wisconsin Lutheran (17-15) will make its inaugural debut in the NAC Tournament Thursday against top-seeded Concordia Chicago (32-5). First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Kapco Park in Mequon. Fans unable to attend the game can follow live stats and video atwww.wlcsports.com.
