Carthage Comes Away With 3-0 Win Over Warriors

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team fell 3-0 to Carthage at the Battle on the Border Sunday afternoon at Art Keller Field.

Carthage got on the scoreboard early as Corinne Brennan found the back of the net on a breakaway goal at the 1:47 mark of the first half. Carthage controlled the rest of the opening period, out-shooting the Warriors, 13-2. WLC goalkeeper Kate Gucinski (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) made five saves in the half.

The game remained 1-0 until the 60:14 mark of the second half when Jessica Socha scored off a Rachel Post assist. Post added a goal of her own with just under four minutes left to put the final at 3-0. Carthage (5-0-0) controlled the shot column in the second half, 14-1.

Gucinski added five more saves in the second half to finish with 10. Mandy Schnell (Milwaukee, Wis./Martin Luther) led the Warriors with two shots, while Sarah Kolander (Brookfield, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) added another.

WLC (2-5-0) returns home for its Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opener September 21 for a game against Benedictine (2-4-0, 0-1-0). Kickoff from Warrior Field is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
