Cougars Claim 4-1 Win Over Warriors

MILWAUKEE – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team fell 4-1 against the visiting Concordia Chicago Cougars Saturday afternoon at Warrior Soccer Field.

WHERE THEY STAND

• The Warriors slid to 4-11-2 overall and 1-6-0 in the NACC. Meanwhile, the Cougars improved to 11-5-0 overall and 4-4-0 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Concordia got things going early in the 5th minute as Alisha Johnson assisted Natalie Weinhold for the first goal of the match.
• The Cougars quickly added to the lead when Allison Kruk scored two minutes later in the 7th minute, again assisted by Johnson.
• The Warriors then retaliated with a goal of their own when sophomore Abby Himm (Grand Blanc, Mich./Homeschooled) assisted freshmen Olivia Scheiber (Watertown, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) who sent a wicked ball in during the 12th minute off a cross that the keeper couldn't stop.
• The Cougars proved too much in the second half as Kruk extended their lead thanks to an assist from Nikki Anderson in the 50th minute.
• In the 59th, Kruk was able to capitalize again to complete her hat trick, who was assisted once again by Johnson.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• The Warriors trailed the shot count 23-8 favoring the Cougars.
• Himm, Scheiber, and Mandy Schnell (Milwaukee, Wis./Greendale Martin Luther) led WLC with two shots each.
• Kruk, Weinhold, and Sarah Lacost registered five shots apiece for CUC.
• Rachel Sebald (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) saved 10 shots on target.
• Concordia Chicago's keeper, Callie Hasselbring, stopped five shots from hitting the net.
