Box Score 2 BELOIT, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College baseball team earned a split against non-conference foe Beloit Saturday afternoon behind Sam Mattheis' (Rosendale, Wis./Laconia) 4-for-5 showing at the plate in game one for a 12-2 victory in seven innings, before falling in game two 4-3 at The Ballpark at Strong Stadium.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Warriors got on the board early as they plated a pair in the top of the first inning off a Mattheis RBI double and Brett Youngbeck's (Brown Deer, Wis./Brown Deer) groundout to first.
- In the fifth, Wisconsin Lutheran pieced together five hits in a row and scored two runs on RBI singles by Youngbeck and Brandon Mantz (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran).
- Beloit broke through in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Mike Gulve and an Alex Lawrence single to cut the Warriors' lead to 4-2.
- WLC broke the game open in the sixth, scoring seven runs on seven hits highlighted by Aaron Roeseler's (Watertown, Wis./Luther Preparatory) two-RBI triple. Jake Grollo (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) also notched two RBI on a single down the right field line. Mattheis and Mantz each picked up RBIs on a pair of singles to make it 11-2.
- Wisconsin Lutheran capped the scoring in the seventh on a Mattheis single that scored Connor Vredeveld (Waterloo, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran), who tripled to lead-off the inning.
- Jaime Paumen (Glencoe, Minn./Silver-Lake) earned the win with a complete game as the Warriors run-ruled the Buccaneers 12-2 in seven innings.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- In the second game, Beloit jumped out to a 3-0 advantage behind a two-RBI double by Jerrick Habecker and a RBI single by Mike Gulve.
- The Warriors loaded in the bases and plated two runs in the fifth off a two-RBI single to left by Mattheis.
- Zack Skog (Hampshire, Ill./Hampshire) tripled to center and Grollo grounded out to second for an RBI to tie the game at 3-3 in the eighth.
- The Buccaneers scored the game winning run in the bottom of the inning off a lead-off triple by Jake Parrott who scored on a single by Habecker.
- WLC attempted to rally in the ninth as Roeseler walked and stole second to reach scoring position, but two straight fly outs ended the threat as Beloit prevailed 4-3.

- In game one, Wisconsin Lutheran was led by Mattheis' 4-for-5 day at the plate, and Connor Vredeveld and Roeseler recorded three hits each.
