Red Hawks Top Warriors In Non-Conference Action

RIPON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College baseball team came up on the short end of a 10-1 decision to the Ripon Red Hawks Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action at Francis Field.

• The Red Hawks scored first with a pair of runs off of two RBI singles in the second inning.
• WLC plated its run in the fourth when Connor Vredeveld (Waterloo, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) scored off of a wild pitch.
• Ripon plated one run in both the fourth and fifth innings on an RBI single and double.
• The Red Hawks' final four runs came when they scored two runs each in the sixth through eighth innings.

• Connor Vredeveld led the Warriors with two hits. Sam Mattheis (Rosendale, Wis./Laconia), Brandon Mantz (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran), and Zack Skog (Hampshire, Ill./Hampshire) each recorded one hit on the day.
• The Warriors were out-hit by the Red Hawks 16-5. 
• Aaron Kieweg (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) took the loss for the Warriors on 5.2 innings pitched allowing 13 hits and six runs. 
• Michael Polcyn went 3-for-5 with two runs scored for Ripon. Nick Schmitt and Bradley Knoblock had two RBIs apiece. 
• Patrick Van daalwyk picked up his first win of the season for Ripon as he pitched 3.0 innings and allowed just one hit with three strikeouts.
