Warriors Unleash 15-Run Barrage On Rockford

LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College baseball team earned a split against Rockford Monday afternoon after pounding out 15 runs off 19 hits in game one for a 15-3 victory, before falling in game two 3-0 at Rivets Stadium.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Warriors scored three runs in the third and seventh innings and added a seven spot in the ninth on their way to a 15-3 win over Rockford in game one. WLC out-hit the Regents 19-8.
  • KJ Banse (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) led Wisconsin Lutheran with four hits in the contest. Brock Vredeveld (Waterloo, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran), Jake Grollo (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls), and Curtis Engelbrecht (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Northland Lutheran) each had three hits apiece. Engelbrecht posted four RBIs and Grollo and Colton Tisch (Genoa City, Wis,/Badger) both recorded three RBIs.
  • Kyle Baron (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) notched his second win of the season, pitching 5.2 innings, allowing five hits and two runs. Cameron Paladines (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) earned his first save of the season, tossing 3.1 innings allowing three hits and one run.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Rockford scored three runs in the bottom of the third and it would be all the run support it needed, shutting out the Warriors in game two.
  • Engelbrecht recorded two hits to lead WLC.
  • Noah Schriefer (San Diego, Calif./California Lutheran) was dealt the tough loss, tossing 7.0 innings, while allowing 12 hits and three runs.

FOR THE FOES

  • Britton Seivert had two hits and two walks in game one for Rockford. Seth Dascher picked up two RBIs for the Regents.
  • Adam O'Malley took the loss for RU after allowing 11 hits and five earned runs in 7.0 innings while striking out nine.
  • Devin Standard went 3-for-3 at the plate in game two. Ryan Scarpetta recorded two RBIs and a double.
  • Joseph Valdez earned his first win for Rockford, tossing 8.0 innings allowing no runs and four hits and striking out 10. Thomas Bolen notched his first save of the season, shutting the door in the ninth inning.
