Warriors Suffer Sweep To Raiders

FRANKLIN, Wis. – The Wisconsin Lutheran College baseball team dropped a pair of NACC contests Saturday afternoon to MSOE at the Rock Sports Complex by scores of 3-2 and 11-1 in eight innings.

THE BASICS

  • Final Scores: MSOE 3, Wisconsin Lutheran 2; MSOE 11, Wisconsin Lutheran 1 (8 Inn.)
  • Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (11-18, 4-8 NACC), MSOE (17-14, 8-4 NACC)
  • Location: The Rock Sports Complex, Franklin, Wis. | Attendance: 118

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Wisconsin Lutheran scored first in the third inning as Jake Grollo (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) hit his fourth home run of the year to right field scoring Curtis Engelbrecht (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Northland Lutheran) giving the Warriors a 2-0 lead.
  • The lead would be short lived as MSOE plated two runs of its own in the bottom of the frame. The Raiders took the lead for good after scoring a run in the fourth. WLC had the tying run in scoring position in the ninth inning but MSOE held on for the 3-2 victory.
  • Grollo led the Warriors with two hits in the opener and picked up two RBIs. Six other Wisconsin Lutheran players collected a hit in the contest.
  • Connor Rosin (Bonduel, Wis./Bonduel) took the tough loss after pitching 8.0 innings and allowing 11 hits and three runs.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS

  • The game remained scoreless until the fifth inning. Wisconsin Lutheran took a 1-0 lead on Ryan Michael's RBI single to right center, scoring Brock Vredeveld (Waterloo, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran).
  • MSOE broke the game open in the bottom of the inning after scoring six runs off three hits. The Raiders would go on to win 11-1 in eight innings.
  • Seven Warriors recorded a hit apiece in the nightcap. Michael recorded the only RBI for Wisconsin Lutheran.  
  • Noah Schriefer (San Diego, Calif./California Lutheran) was dealt the loss after allowing six runs off four hits in 5.0 innings.

FOR THE FOES

  • Garrett Williams had two hits and two RBIs in game one for the Raiders.
  • Jacob Roley earned his fifth win of the season after allowing eight hits and two runs in 8.0 innings. He also struck out nine and walked one. Michael Boehmer picked up the save, allowing a walk in an inning of work.
  • Jimmy Carrington collected two hits, scored two runs, and had seven RBIs in the nightcap for MSOE.
  • Brandon McCumber pitched a complete game and allowed seven hits and one run to earn the win.  

UP NEXT
