Warriors Drop Two Non-Conference Games In Iowa

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Wisconsin Lutheran College baseball team dropped a pair of non-conference games Sunday, falling in game one to Northland 11-6 before Cornell (Iowa) bested WLC 24-7 in seven innings in game two at Ash Park.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

• The Warriors scored two runs in the bottom of the first off RBI singles by Ryan Stancl (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin) and Josiah Boucher (Menasha, Wis./Menasha). Northland scored five runs in the second and two in the third as the LumberJacks went on to win by a score of 11-6.  
• Joe Hanson collected three hits in the contest and Brock Vredeveld (Waterloo, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) had two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI.
• Kyle Baron (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) pitched 5.0 innings in a losing effort for WLC, allowing six hits, three earned runs, and striking out seven.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS

• Cornell jumped out in front early, scoring eight runs in the first inning before going on to win 24-7 in seven innings.
• KJ Banse (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) led the Warriors with three hits in the contest. Kasey Zdroik (Plainfield, Wis./Tri-County) had two hits and two RBI while Sid Lehman (Mayville, Wis./Mayville) also collected a pair of RBI.
• Curtis Engelbrecht (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Northland Lutheran) pitched 3.0 innings, taking the loss for the Warriors. He allowed 13 runs off 16 hits.

FOR THE FOES

• Edouard Bosseloo went 3-for-4 with three doubles, six RBI, and two runs scored for Northland.
• Dylan Porter notched the win for the LumberJacks, pitching 5.0 innings allowing seven hits, three earned runs, while striking out eight.  
• Cornell's Andy Dodson went 4-for-5 with a triple, four runs scored, and three RBI.
• Tyler Riggs picked up his second win of the season, tossing 5.0 innings allowing nine hits and four runs while striking out three.
