Two Big Innings Send Red Hawks Past Warriors

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - The visiting Ripon Red Hawks scored in just two innings, but those big innings proved to be the difference as the Wisconsin Lutheran College baseball team dropped a 9-3 non-conference game to the Red Hawks Thursday afternoon at Neumann Family Field. The game was moved from Ripon to Milwaukee early Thursday after deteriorating weather conditions in Ripon.

• The Warriors escaped trouble in the first two innings, stranding three Ripon runners on base over the first two frames.

• WLC cracked the scoring column in the fourth as four straight batters reached base and Matthew Schulenburg (Hampshire, Ill.) ripped a two-RBI single down the right field line for a three-run deficit.
• Wisconsin Lutheran got another run back in the fifth when Jake Schwall's (West Allis, Wis.) single down the left field line scored Ryan Dominick (Bartlett, Ill.).
• RC struck again with two outs in the sixth, posting back-to-back two-RBI doubles for a four-run frame.
• The Warriors had runners reach in the last three innings, but couldn't plate any runs across.
• Six different players in the WLC lineup had one hit each, while Schulenburg and Schwall drove in the runs.
• Joe Serbiak (Brookfield, Wis.) tossed 3.1 innings of hitless relief, while striking out two.

• Michael Barnes went 3-for-5 with two runs scored while Keegan Johnston drove in three runs for the Red Hawks.
