Second-Half Outburst Sends Warriors To Season-Ending Win

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's soccer team erased a 3-2 halftime deficit by scoring three unanswered goals in the second half en route to a 5-3 season-ending win over crosstown NACC foe MSOE on Wednesday night at Viets Field. It was the Warriors' first win over the Raiders since 2016.

  • Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (7-11-0, 5-7-0 NACC), MSOE (9-6-3, 7-3-2 NACC)
  • Location: Viets Field, Milwaukee, Wis.

  • After two saves from freshman goalkeeper Bryce Beckley (Waterford, Wis.), the Raiders struck first for a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute.
  • The Warriors knotted the score at 1-1 in the 17th minute after senior Jason Cano's (Delavan, Wis.) 12th goal of the season, assisted by sophomore Ben Meaux (Franklin, Wis.).
  • MSOE went ahead shortly after in the 19th minute for a 2-1 lead. The hosts' lead stood until the 26th minute when an own goal evened the score for WLC at 2-2.
  • The Raiders took a 3-2 advantage into halftime after their third goal of the game in the 32nd minute.
  • Senior Justin Kuffler (Moline, Wis.) netted his second goal of the season in the 54th minute, assisted again by Meaux for a 3-3 tie.
  • Cano collected his second goal of the match in the 63rd minute, his league-leading 13th of the season and the eventual game-winner. The go-ahead score was assisted by junior Trevor Millonzi (Jackson, Wis.).
  • Sophomore William Bergersen (Milwaukee, Wis.) capped off the scoring for Wisconsin Lutheran in the 69th minute with his first career goal.
  • Five of the Warriors' six shots on goal in the match landed in the back of the net. Cano and Kuffler led WLC with two shots on goal each.
  • Beckley stopped four shots in the match en route to his seventh win of the season.
