Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

WAUKESHA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College baseball team was swept in a non-conference doubleheader against Carroll on Monday afternoon at Frame Park. The Warriors fell in game one 19-8 before losing in a close 7-6 matchup in game two.

  • Final Scores: Carroll 19, Wisconsin Lutheran 8; Carroll 7, Wisconsin Lutheran 6
  • Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (1-7), Carroll (6-5)
  • Location: Frame Park, Waukesha, Wis.

  • Carroll's offense exploded in the first inning, scoring eight runs on six hits. The first three batters all reached base, including a RBI double, before a sacrifice fly drove in the second run. Two more runners scored on three straight hits, and a two-out home run to right field plated three more. The final run scored via a walk before a fielder's coach ended the inning.
  • After the Pioneers tacked on three more runs in the third, freshman Foster Engelhardt (North Richland Hills, Texas) got the Warriors on the board with a solo shot in the fourth, his second in as many games.
  • Carroll added three more runs on a pair of home runs to right field in the fourth, extending the lead to 14-1.
  • WLC cut the lead in half with an eight-hit, seven-run fifth inning. After a leadoff single, sophomore Dylan Pease (Fort Atkinson, Wis.) doubled home the first run and later scored on a single by junior Ryan Dominick (Bartlett, Ill.). Two more runners would score on back-to-back hits, and junior Nick Poblocki (Bartlett, Ill.) drove home two more with a single to center field. Freshman Cooper Pease (Fort Atkinson, Wis.) capped the inning with a double to left which scored Poblocki.
  • The Pioneers scored once in the fifth and finished the scoring for game one with a grand slam in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 19-8.
  • The Warriors finished with 11 hits, with three players recording two each. Seven different players drove in a run, with Poblocki driving in a pair of runs.
  • Senior Jacob Kopplin (Rowlett, Texas) was charged with the loss after allowing seven runs.

  • A leadoff second-inning triple by junior Nick Poblocki (Bartlett, Ill.) translated to the first Warriors run of game two, as sophomore Danny Cain (Jackson, Wis.) drove him in with a single to center field. WLC got one more hit in the inning, but Cain was thrown out trying to advance from first to third on the play.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran's offense tacked on five runs in the third inning to take a six-run lead. After a one-out single by Dominick, Engelhardt singled to score the first run. A walk and another single loaded the bases, and senior Jayson Walczak-Zelem capitalized, launching a grand slam to left field to clear the bases.
  • Carroll got on the board in the bottom half of the third on a solo home run. The hosts added one more in the fourth inning after a leadoff single came around to score.
  • The Pioneers put together a two-out rally in the fifth inning, plating five runs to take a 7-6 lead. Carroll drew four walks in the inning, and a trio of singles scored all five runs.
  • The Warriors stranded one runner in the sixth, and got a two-out double to right center by Poblocki in the seventh, but were unable to score the tying run and fell 7-6 in seven innings.
  • Poblocki finished 2-for-3 with a double, triple, and two runs scored. The Warriors finished with 10 hits, with four extra-base hits, and stranded five runners.
  • Sophomore Glavine Matthes (Appleton, Wis.) was charged with the loss in relief, after allowing four runs to score in the fifth inning.
