Box Score 2 FRANKLIN, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Junior Matthew Schulenburg (Hampshire, Ill.) finished with five hits and senior Jake Wiedower (St. Francis, Wis.) picked up his first win of the season as the Wisconsin Lutheran College baseball team split a Sunday afternoon doubleheader with Dominican at The Rock Sports Complex in Franklin. The Warriors won the first game 5-4, before the Stars rallied in game two for a 7-2 victory.

- Dominican struck twice in the top half of the first inning on a RBI single and a sacrifice fly to left field. The Warriors put two runners on base in the bottom half of the inning with a walk and a single by Schulenburg but a pair of strikeouts ended the inning.
- After stranding two more runners in the bottom of the second, WLC evened the score at two with a pair of runs in the third. Following a single by Schulenburg, freshman Foster Engelhardt (North Richland Hills, Texas) doubled to center field to score the first run. A two-out single to right by junior Josh Enevold (Jackson, Wis.) scored Engelhardt to tie the game after three innings.
- The Stars regained the lead in the fourth after a dropped fly ball in the outfield allowed two runs to score.
- Wisconsin Lutheran responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 5-4 lead. Back-to-back singles and a sacrifice bunt put runners on second and third with two outs and junior Ryan Dominick (Bartlett, Ill.) ripped a line drive past the second baseman to score two. Dominick advanced to second on a wild pitch, and Schulenburg collected his third hit of the game to drive home the third run of the inning.
- Neither team was able to put much offense together for the next four innings, and the Warriors turned to senior Joe Serbiak (Brookfield, Wis.) in the ninth to close the game. Dominican put the tying run on second base, but a pop out to first base ended the game.
- WLC totaled 11 hits, with Schulenburg finishing 3-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored. Dominick led the team with two RBI.
- Wiedower tossed six innings, allowing four runs (one earned) and striking out eight batters for his first win of the season. Serbiak picked up the save.
- The Warriors loaded the bases in the bottom of the second inning on singles by Enevold and sophomore Danny Cain (Jackson, Wis.) but were unable to score as Dominican escaped the jam with a strikeout.
- The Stars put a pair of runners on in the fourth, but sophomore pitcher Evan Theis (Richfield, Wis.) ended the inning with a fielder's choice groundout and flyout to centerfield. Dominican stranded the bases loaded in the top of the fifth on a groundout to first base.
- Wisconsin Lutheran broke through with two runs in the bottom of the fifth behind a two-out triple from freshman Spencer Jens (New London, Wis.). A throwing error allowed Jens to score and a hit-and-run single by Schulenburg helped Dominick score all the way from first.
- Dominican got on the board in the sixth on a one-out double to left field. Both teams put runners on base in the next couple innings, but no one was able to score. WLC stranded the bases loaded in the eighth inning and headed to ninth up one at 2-1.
- In the ninth, the Stars scored six times to take the lead as patience at the plate led to four walks and two hits batters. A pair of Warriors errors allowed two runs to score, and three runs scored via walks.
- Jens and Dominick singled in the Warriors' half of the ninth, but a strikeout and flyout closed the game 7-2 in favor of Dominican.
- Schulenburg finished with two more hits while Jens went 2-for-4 as WLC posted nine hits as a team. Jens added a stolen base.
- Theis posted a strong outing on the mound, allowing just one run across seven innings and striking out two. Freshman Hunter Martin (Whitewater, Wis.) was charged with the loss in relief, allowing the go-ahead run to score in the top of the ninth.
- Brandon Diedrich and Keegan Brandt each tallied a pair of hits in the first game for the Stars. Bryant Bagshaw was handed the loss, allowing five runs across eight innings of work.
- Tyler Trojan and Zach Rigdon led the offense in game two with a pair of hits each. Rigdon also scored twice for the Stars. Bennett Wogan improved to 2-0 on the season with the win in relief.
