Warriors Erupt For Six Goals In Season Finale Rout

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The WLC women's soccer team scored a season-high six goals as the Warriors shutout Lakeland 6-0 on Sunday afternoon at Warriors Soccer Field. Junior Maggie Stebbins (Beaver Dam, Wis.), senior Gabriella Metten (Greenville, Wis.), and junior Miriam Carreno (San Antonio, Texas) each scored twice for Wisconsin Lutheran.

  • Stebbins scored in the ninth minute to give the Warriors an early advantage. Stebbins gathered the ball following a shot that bounced off the left post and fired the ball for her second goal of the season. WLC added to the lead two minutes later as Carreno found the back of the net on a pass from sophomore Katie Wasiak (Muskego, Wis.).
  • Wisconsin Lutheran increased its lead in the 60th minute as Metten scored on a penalty kick. Less than a minute later, Carreno made the score 4-0 after a pass from freshman Carol Bedolla (Joliet, Ill.) allowed her to beat the goalie in a one-on-one situation.
  • Stebbins scored her second goal of the game in the 65th minute on a feed from freshman Signe Kind (Fort Atkinson, Wis.).
  • The Warriors tallied one final goal in the 79th minute as Metten fired a shot to the upper right corner following a pass by Carreno.

  • WLC finished with 23 total shots and 15 shots on frame. Metten attempted six shots, with four finishing on target. Kind recorded five shots and Carreno added four.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Butler (West Allis, Wis.) posted a shutout, stopping two shots to maintain a clean sheet.
  • The win marked the fifth consecutive victory for the Warriors against the Muskies.

  • Lakeland tallied four shots and two shots on goal. Lilli Schloser led the Muskies with two shots.
  • In goal, Erin Tomlinson finished with nine saves on 15 shots faced over 90 minutes.

  • The Warriors finish their abbreviated 2020-2021 season with a 3-5-0 overall record along with the same 3-5-0 mark in conference play.
