WLC Drops Final Road Match At CUW

MEQUON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team fell 3-1 to Concordia Wisconsin on Wednesday afternoon at Fitting Field. The Warriors went into halftime tied at 1-1 before the Falcons scored twice in the second half.

• Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (2-4-0, 2-4-0 NACC), Concordia Wisconsin (4-1-0, 4-0-0 NACC)
• Location: Fitting Field, Mequon, Wis.

• The Falcons opened the scoring in the 19th minute as Selena Esten found the back of the net following a pass from Isabel Downs. It was the fifth assist of the season for Downs.
• Wisconsin Lutheran evened the score in the 28th minute of the first half as sophomore Katie Wasiak (Muskego, Wis.) scored her fourth goal of the season on an assist by freshman Carol Bedolla (Joliet, Ill.).
• CUW scored twice early in the second half to take a 3-1 lead. Esten scored her second of the game and 10th of the season in the 52nd minute to break the tie, and Sage McDaniel tallied her first goal of the season on passes from Bria Wachowiak and Isabel Downs to give the hosts a two-goal advantage.

• The Warriors finished with six total shots and four shots on goal. Wasiak paced the team with four shots including three shots on frame.
• Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Butler (West Allis, Wis.) stopped a season-high 13 shots for an .813 save percentage.
• WLC's two-goal deficit is the closest its been in a match with CUW since the two teams played in 2010, also a two-goal deficit.

• Concordia Wisconsin recorded 29 shots and 16 shots on goal in the win. Esten and Downs each finished with eight shots to pace the Falcons.
• In goal, Kaeley Sterkel picked up her fourth win after stopping three shots in 90 minutes of action.
