Warriors Fall Twice At Home To Edgewood

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College baseball team dropped a pair of games to Edgewood on Saturday afternoon at Neumann Family Baseball Field. The Warriors fell 15-3 and 15-4 in a pair of seven-inning NACC games.

• Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (11-22, 4-10 NACC), Edgewood (11-20, 5-9 NACC)
• Location: Neumann Family Baseball Field, Wauwatosa, Wis.

• After scoring once in the top of the first, the Eagles increased their lead in the second with a one-out grand slam to center field.
• In the fourth inning, Edgewood tacked on five more runs on five hits, including a three-run home run to left field.
• The Warriors got on the board with three runs in the sixth inning to cut the deficit to seven. Freshman Foster Engelhardt (North Richland Hills, Texas) connected on a two-out, solo home run to left field and junior Matthew Schulenburg (Hampshire, Ill.) doubled and scored on an error. Sophomore Carter Raabe (Mukwonago, Wis.) doubled and drove home senior Jayson Walczak-Zelem (Oak Creek, Wis.) to cap off the inning.
• Back-to-back home runs, including a second grand slam, helped Edgewood down Wisconsin Lutheran 15-3 in seven innings.
• Schulenburg finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored as WLC tallied nine hits.
• Senior Jake Wiedower (St. Francis, Wis.) was handed the loss after allowing 10 runs over four innings.

• Edgewood scored once in the first inning and three more times in the second to take an early 4-0 advantage.
• After the Eagles plated two more on a triple in the third, the Warriors answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Junior Ryan Dominick (Bartlett, Ill.) doubled to score the first run, and junior Josh Enevold (Jackson, Wis.) drove in Dominick with a single to left. Junior Nick Poblocki (Bartlett, Ill.) capped the inning with a two-out single to left center to drive in Enevold.
• Dominick drove in another run in the fourth to cut the Wisconsin Lutheran deficit down to two runs.
• The Eagles scored once in the fifth before putting up eight runs in the top half of the sixth to go up 11 runs. WLC was unable to get back in the game as they fell 15-4 in seven innings.
• Dominick finished with three hits and two RBI as the Warriors recorded 12 hits as a team. Freshman Spencer Jens (New London, Wis.) also recorded a pair of hits.
• Sophomore Evan Theis (Richfield, Wis.) was charged with the loss after allowing six runs in four innings.

• Cooper Holewinski launched a pair of grand slams and finished 3-for-4 with nine RBI in game one. Kyle Jungers picked up the win on the mound, throwing seven innings and allowing one earned run.
• Holewinski tripled twice and drove in five more runs in the second game. Joseph Kalafut finished 3-for-4 with two RBI. Nick Holland earned his third win of the season after allowing four runs across seven innings.
