Warriors Place Fourth At NACC Outdoor Championships

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Junior Sam Rodmyre (Federal Way, Wash.) won the Decathlon as the Wisconsin Lutheran College men's outdoor track & field team placed fourth out of 10 teams at the 2021 NACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday at Raabe Stadium. It was WLC's fourth consecutive fourth-place finish at the conference outdoor championships.

• Rodmyre won five events in the Decathlon to finish first with a total of 5799 points.
• Rodmyre and sophomore Thomas Jungwirth III (Appleton, Wis.) placed second and third, respectively, in the 110m Hurdles. Rodmyre raced to a time of 16.75 seconds with Jungwirth III finishing just behind at 16.97 seconds.
• Freshman Peyton Hartman (Montgomery, Ill.) tallied a fourth-place finish in the 10,000m behind a time of 33:48.22.
• In the 100m, freshman Jordan Wiesen (Fort Atkinson, Wis.) placed fifth with a time of 11.68 seconds.
• Freshman Hans Rupnow (Mankato, Minn.) finished fifth in the 800m with a time of 2:00.28.
• Freshman August Davis (Springfield, Ill.) placed eighth in the same event with a time of 2:02.90.
• Freshman Ben Bode (Helena, Mont.) placed fifth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.24. Jungwirth III finished sixth in the same event with a time of 1:04.02.
• Bode raced to a fifth-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:25.91.
• Freshman Jacob Hefle (Germantown, Wis.) recorded a sixth-place finish in the 400m behind a time of 52.28 seconds.
• Senior Chris Krahn (De Pere, Wis.) placed seventh in the 1500m, running a time of 4:11.44.
• In the 5000m, senior Daniel Bronner (Hartland, Wis.) finished eighth with a time of 16:01.21.
• The Warriors placed third in the 4x100 Relay as the team of freshman Jeff Zeh (Jefferson, Wis.), senior Sam Boone (Mindoro, Wis.), Wiesen, and junior Keith Bowling (Jefferson, Wis.) raced to a time of 43.54 seconds.
• WLC took home a fifth-place finish in the 4x400 Relay with a time of 3:32.71.
• Sophomore Jacob Trietsch (Trafalgar, Ind.) finished sixth in the High Jump with a mark of 1.74 meters. Rodmyre placed eighth with a leap of 1.69 meters.
• Rodmyre also placed fifth in the Pole Vault at 3.95 meters.
• Bowling took home fourth place in the Long Jump with a distance of 6.34 meters. He also finished sixth in the Triple Jump with a mark of 13.14 meters.
• Junior Michael Sheffler (Appleton, Wis.) recorded a sixth-place finish in the Shot Put with a distance of 12.32 meters. He also tallied a third-place finish in the Hammer with a toss of 41.09 meters and was seventh in the Discus at 35.38 meters.
• Junior Cole Kuehl (Richland, Mich.) finished fifth in the Discus with a mark of 35.88 meters.
• MSOE won its third NACC Championship with a team score of 226 points.

• "This weekend was bittersweet. Hosting the conference championships meant our seniors could compete at home in front of family and friends one last time. I could not be more proud of the fight and determination that both of our teams put forth this weekend. 63 PR's, 2 school records, and 17 All-Conference performers helped us to score a lot of points and we were in the mix at the top for both teams. While it's disappointing to walk away without a team trophy, it was amazing to see the positive attitudes and teamwork on full display.
